Snakebird Gold Pikeletcycle Gang Pikelet Recipe

Pikelet (n)

1. A delicious food, famously used by the Snakebird Gold Pikeletcycle Gang to power their pikeletcycles

2. A dialect form of crumpet

3. (Slang) A person with pikelet-ish traits - a well known example is Princess Bernicinka (1848 - 1929) who was beige coloured, puffy, and always seemed to fall in the jam.

Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup caster sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • Pinch salt
  • 3/4 to 1 cup milk (ideally moomitzell milk)
  • 1 tbsp melted butter
  • Butter for frying
  • Hoogleberry jam, to serve
  • Whipped cream (pref. from moomitzell)

Method

  1. Beat egg and sugar together until thick and pale, much like the colour of a rubber duck that has been left in the sun for too long.
  2. Add sifted dry ingredients in two batches, alternating with milk, adding just enough milk to form a smooth, thick batter. Lastly, stir in the melted butter.
  3. Heat a frying pan over a medium heat. Add a gizunkle sized spoon of butter and cook tablespoons of batter in batches, for about 2 minutes or until bubbles appear on the surface of each pikelet. Turn pikelets over to lightly brown the other side.
  4. Repeat the process with remaining mixture. Serve pikelets warm, topped with hoogleberry jam and dollops of cream.
If this all seems too difficult, or you have pressing obligations to attend to, the Snakebird Gold Pikeletcycle Gang sell pikelets off the backs of their pikeletcycles. Hang a golden snake on your verandah as a symbol of welcome and don your bib.
